The Rose Festival, always looking for new and exciting features, brought the mountains to Multnomah Stadium in 1951. A ski-jumping event was scheduled. It did not actually snow, but tons of crushed ice and snow were blown onto the track. (Courtesy Oregon Historical Society; OrHi91675.)
In this photograph, Queen Jeanne Wallace was crowned the 44th Rose Festival queen in Coronation ceremonies held Wednesday evening, June 11, 1952, in Multnomah Stadium.
